So this happened.

A man who apparently wasn’t concerned with the Seattle Seahawks’ win over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII decided to talk about something other than the game’s Most Valuable Player.

During a post-game conference, the crasher interrupted Seattle’s MVP Malcolm Smith, grabbing the mic as he was addressing the media.

And his message? The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington D.C. were perpetrated by our own government. Not surprisingly, the man was promptly arrested and charged with trespassing.

Later, he was identified as Matthew Mills, a 30-year-old independent journalist from Brooklyn. He told NJ.com his aim was just to get close to MetLife Stadium — which had layers of security in what’s supposed to be the most secure sporting event in the United States — so he could conduct some fan interviews.

The bogus lie (and an old credential from a festival he covered worn around his neck) got him past those layers of security and into the pressroom.

“I just said I was running late for work and I had to get in there,” Mills said. “It was that simple. I didn’t think that I’d get that far,” Mill said. “I just kept getting closer and closer. Once I got past the final gate and into the stadium, I was dumbfounded.”

Which leaves an even bigger issue at hand. Just how secure was Super Bowl security? We smell an investigation coming, but in the meantime, watch the bizarre interruption above.
