As a follow-up to Vanity Fair’s epic award season cover, we’ve been treated with yet another stunner from Essence Magazine.
For their March Hollywood issue, the magazine called in the A-team as Oprah Winfrey, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Forest Whitaker and Michael B. Jordan all grace the star-studded gatefold cover as part of the issue’s “Black Women in Hollywood” package. In their own words, they each recall the passion it took to craft 2013’s most unforgettable roles.
Oscar nominee Lupita Nyong’o is also showcased in the Beauty section feature, Lupita Shines. Lupita will be one of the honorees during Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood luncheon, in the category of “Best Breakthrough Performance.” In the feature, Lupita describes the day she learned of her Golden Globe nod while in Paris:
“My stomach was in knots…I broke out in a cold sweat. It was like being on a roller coaster. I screamed so loud when I heard my name and then I started to cry…”
