In February 2013, Eunique Jones Gibson released a series of engaging photographs in an effort to “educate and connect a new generation to heroes who have paved the way” — a successful and powerful message that was both meant to create an accurate narrative of our past and transform the dilution of Black History Month.

A few days ago, we were lucky enough to get a visit from the innovative and inspirational Eunique. She sat down with our News & Politics Editor Christina Coleman to discuss her adorable “Because Of Them We Can” campaign, along with her vision for Black History Month and the potential it has to uplift the community.

“I see Black History Month as a month where we set our own agenda – we set the agenda for the black community, what is it we want to achieve? What is it we want to accomplish? How do we help push other people forward? How do we empower our children? How do we help support black businesses?”

Get to know Eunique and her thoughts on the questions she’s posed above.
