The 2014 Brit Awards take place today and will include a special performance by Beyonce, as well as performances by Pharrell, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and many others. The Brit Awards are the British equivalent to our Grammy Awards, but don’t fret if you’re not abroad. The entire event is available to live stream.
Beyonce performed one of her latest hits, “XO” as she dazzled the crowd in a skin-hugging, sequined, turquoise gown.
“I’d like to dedicate this song to my incredible fans. I love yall,” said the Queen to her beloved BeyHive.
Bey didn’t go for theatrics in the performance. She instead relied on her flawless voice and unbelievable stage presence.
It’s been a decade since she performed at the Brit Awards, and Bey of course did not disappoint. Check out the stunning performance above!
Rumors of Queen Bey’s involvement in the show have been swirling for weeks, but the show’s host, comedian James Corden, let the cat out of the bag during an appearance on BBC Radio 2:
“There’s this weird thing with this year’s BRITs where I’ve been – more than any other year – told things I can’t say. But I figure it’s the day…I must be able to tell you? Beyonce. Beyonce is performing tonight. She’s performing a track she has never ever performed live before. Ever.”
As you may remember, Beyonce’s performance of “Drunk In Love” with husband Jay Z at this year’s Grammys was also kept under wraps. This will also mark the singer’s first performance at the Brits in 10 years.
Producer of the Year Pharrell will hit the stage with Nile Rogers. Skateboard P, who recently announced the release date of his upcoming album, G I R L, is sure to perform his smash hits “Get Lucky” and/or “Happy.”
Nominees include Drake, Bruno Mars, Eminem and Justin Timberlake for International Male Solo Artist, while Janelle Monae, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lorde, and Pink battle it out for International Female Solo Artist.
The show starts at 3pm EST.
