Although Kim Kardashian and the fashion world have had their ups and downs, it seems some VIPs in the industry actually have her back!
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci revealed his thoughts on the reality TV star. Tisci likened Kimmy K to a former controversial style icon – Marilyn Monroe.
“I met her as the girlfriend of a good friend,” Tisci said. “I just wanted a moment with her to understand – and I fell in love. She’s the Monroe of our age. People think she’s like a doll, but actually she’s tough and clever.”
Who would have thought? Kanye, probably.
“It’s not so much the beauty of people, but the talent and the intelligence that concern me. I love people who are not scared to fight for their own rights and have their own point of view. The world is big: the music world is big, the art world is big and the fashion world is big, but I think you can recognize a tribe in the similarity of people,” he went on.
Believe it or not, he’s not the first person to make this comparison. Months ago Kanye West, Kim’s fiance, went off on Vanity Fair for putting Kate Upton on the cover in a Monroe-themed shoot commemorating their 100th issue. West claimed Kim was far more deserving of the shoot.
“I have a love-hate relationship with the paparazzi, but actually I love them because they are empowering us. They are empowering us over Vanity Fair that want to say that Kate Upton is Marilyn Monroe,” he said. “Kate Upton ain’t Marilyn Monroe, Kim is Marilyn Monroe.”
Whatever you say, ‘Ye. Fashion Icon Carine Roitfeld also compared Kim to Marilyn following backlash over his shoot with the reality star.
We don’t know about the Marilyn Monroe comparison, but Kim’s street style is off the charts. The star was spotted strutting her stuff in off-white from head-to-toe in New York City last night and as usual, she wasn’t alone.
Kardashian was joined by her fiance Kanye West and close friend La La Anthony for the outing.
