After about a year and a half of no follow-up to Kendrick Lamar‘s good kid m.A.A.d city, it looks like the wait is almost over.

While promoting the hype of Schoolboy Q‘s new album, which was released this past week, TDE President Dave Free told Billboard that Kendrick’s next project should come out this September!

It was revealed:

In 2014, TDE hopes to lock and load its most ambitious slate of releases: Rashad and the label’s first nonrap signing, New Jersey-based female singer-songwriter SZA, will be coming with albums, as will original team members Jay Rock and Ab-Soul. Meanwhile, Free thinks the long-awaited debut from Black Hippy – the supergroup featuring Lamar, Q, Rock and Ab-Soul – is likely to appear in 2014; Tiffith indicates that TDE is planning to release a new Lamar album this coming September, too.

Even though he hasn’t released any new solo music, Kendrick has dominated the last two years musically, so we can only imagine what his next album will be like.

The 26-year-old rapper also recently spoke on the post-Grammy text that Macklemore sent him after he beat Kendrick for “Best Rap Album.”

He told Billboard:

That text surprised me, but Macklemore is a genuine dude. However it panned out, I wish him much success. He touched people’s souls, and no one can take that away. Really, the whole Grammy moment was incredible. Not everyone gets that shot.

A lot of rappers have criticized Macklemore for posting the text screenshot to social media, but it looks like Kendrick is giving him his props.

Hurry up, Kendrick. The game needs you!
