The Russian military made a bold move yesterday when they stormed a Ukrainian post in Crimea, breaking down the gate with a truck before invading.

According to TIME, the Russians tried to take over the base, but gave up after Ukraine refused to surrender it to them.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense told the site:

“The base is now back in full control of the Ukrainian armed forces. Now only the radicals are left.”

Apparently, some journalists were beaten badly since they were guarding the perimeter of the base while the Russians were trying to seize it.

The spokesman continued:

“Some of the reporters are still missing. We are trying to find where they are.”

In other war news, apparently the U.S. has sent a warship through the Black Sea after Turkey gave our country permission.

According to RT.com, the ship – which is not the USS George H.W. Bush nuclear aircraft carrier – is following in the footsteps of two Russian ships that passed through earlier in the week.

This apparently all stems from broken communication between President Obama and President Putin of Russia.

We hope that peace can be found within Crimea soon and that a war does not break out because of the current crisis in Ukraine.
