Question: do you customize your Tinder bio based on where you’re going to be? The women of SXSW sure did this weekend. People are updating their Tinder bios like Facebook status updates now, and it’s more likely to get them matches.

“Attending SXSW 2014 and I like to party!”

When I read that in the bio of a nearby Asian girl, I immediately swiped to the right. A match! She’s down in South By Southwest, I was down at SXSW and she’s ready to party. “Don’t worry, I don’t bite,” her profile read. Well, I do! I sparked up a conversation, got her number and a made a new friend.

People are finding creative ways to use Tinder, whether it’s to meet new friends in a new town, for a random hookup, or even just for a connect to get into a show or two. Women were advertising that they were down at SXSW left and right, and as a relationship blogger, it’s something I haven’t seen before.

I was in Los Angeles for the Grammys and the Oscars – no custom messages. I was in New York for the Super Bowl –  no custom messages. But in Austin? Calling cards for the hook up!

One witty 23-year-old wrote: “Hey, do you like any sport with a board? Do you listen to music? Please can I read about it in your incredibly original bio, bc you’re definitely the only one in Austin at SXSW with those hobbies.”

Not only was this girl a match for me; we shared an interest in Drake. She never replied to my message though. **Insert funny Drake Meme here**

Custom bios on your Tinder based on events and your GPS location could make your night a lot more interesting. It’s a simple idea that’s so brilliant, it makes me wonder why didn’t I think of it first.

One girl got so clever, I think she was on a mission for a new baby daddy…

“I’m newly preggo… Yup. Yes, I’m keeping it. No, the dad is not in my life, nor does he want anything to do with the baby. No, I’m not looking for a replacement dad. Anywho…”

Then her Twitter and Facebook links were listed. Hold on, I’ll be right back. I need to grab a drink of water; I’m a bit parched.

Now that the thirst break is over, it’s amazing to see how innovative Tinder users have become. Could this be changing the future of dating apps?

Well, I’m only in town for one night, let’s make it happen.
