Despite rumors swirling that Seattle police would reopen their examination of Kurt Cobain’s death, the department confirmed on Thursday that there is no new evidence to change the police conclusion that Cobain took his own life.

However, as Seattle nears the 20th anniversary of the beloved rock star’s death, the police department has released previously unseen photographs from the suicide scene, taken from four rolls of undeveloped film a detective recently discovered.

One photograph shows a box of drug paraphernalia. Another shows money and Cobain’s wallet. According to the Associated Press:

One was an image showing a box containing a spoon and what appear to be needles on the floor next to a cigarette and sunglasses. The other showed the paraphernalia box closed, next to cash and a wallet that appears to show Cobain’s identification.

The photos, however, aren’t enough to reopen the case.

“There was nothing earth-shattering in any of these images,” police spokeswoman Renee Witt said. “The detective went into the case files to refresh himself. The outcome of the case has not changed.”

Cobain, a member of the popular group Nirvana, died in 1994 when he went into the greenhouse of his home, took a large dose of heroin and shot himself with a 20-gauge shotgun.

Police found him days later on April 8. He was 27-years-old.
