Meet production duo Nez & Rio: the two men responsible for producing TDE rapper ScHoolboy Q’s biggest hit to date – “Man Of The Year.”
The Chicago natives have produced bangers (or what they refer to as “the slam”) for artists like Chicago’s King Louis, Kidz In The Hall rapper Naledge, rising R&B newcomer Tinashe, and of course, ScHoolboy Q.
Two years ago, GlobalGrind spoke with the “Californication” producers as their notoriety as hit-makers began to increase and shortly after ScHoolboy Q’s acclaimed Habits & Contradictions project was released.
Now, GlobalGrind caught up with Nez & Rio down in Austin, Texas at the SXSW Film & Music Festival to discuss producing “slam” for ScHoolboy Q and the TDE family, the summer they decided to take production seriously and their forthcoming projects as artists. And of course they explained how “Man Of The Year” became one of the biggest hip-hop records of the year.
