David Letterman is following in the footsteps of Jay Leno, and will be stepping away from late night television after 32 years.
Yesterday on his show, Letterman made the big retirement reveal in the simplest of ways. After a talk with the chairman of CBS, Leslie Moonves, he announced his talk show reign would be coming to an end.
He told the audience:
“The man who owns this network, Leslie Moonves, he and I have had a relationship for years and years and years, and we have had this conversation in the past, and we agreed that we would work together on this circumstance and the timing of this circumstance. And I phoned him just before the program, and I said ‘Leslie, it’s been great, you’ve been great, and the network has been great, but I’m retiring.
I just want to reiterate my thanks for the support from the network, all of the people who have worked here, all of the people in the theater, all the people on the staff, everybody at home, thank you very much”
So who will take his sacred late night spot?
This is quite the duo. Pharrell and Anna Kendrick will be teaming up for Saturday Night Live tomorrow night, with Kendrick hosting and Pharrell performing. While Pharrell is only set to do two performances, let’s hope he (and his infamous hat) will make an appearance in a skit or two.

Looks like Nirvana isn’t the only blast-from-the-past getting a Broadway musical. The sitcom that everyone openly or secretly loved, Friends, might be hitting the live stage. Jennifer Aniston has apparently been plotting a musical based on her famed sitcom with a “billion dollar” plan.
A source revealed to Radar Online:
“Jen has completely fallen in love with the idea of a Broadway-ready Friends musical.It’s even gotten to the point where she’s had some deep talks with her friend Sheryl Crow about creating ’90s style music for the project, which of course would feature an entirely new crop of actors playing young versions of the now 40-something Friends stars.”
Since the show’s co-creator Marta Kaufmann ruled out any major reunion of the cast via the small or big screen, this might have to be the next best thing.
There’s a new rom-com on the horizons!
Blended will star Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler where they find themselves on the same family vacation in Africa after a horrible blind date. This is third time Sandler and Barrymore will be teaming up for a romantic comedy, as we’ve previously seen them in The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates. The film is also set to star, Terry Crews, Joel McHale, and Wendi McLendon-Covey.
