Yesterday was day 1 of the Coachella 2014 Festival, and already history was made.
A$AP Ferg did his first solo set for the festival stage while bringing out a lot of the A$AP Mob with him, and that included a special appearance from A$AP Rocky.
While Ferg got the crowd jumping with hits like “Work” and “Shabba Ranks”, Rocky came out and debuted a new song that excited his loyal fans.
The name of the new song, which can be seen at the 32:20 mark on the performance video above, has not been revealed just yet, but it’s safe to assume we’ll hear the complete version soon.
On top of previewing a new track, Rocky also had some intense words for the BEEN Trill brand, where he told the crowd:
“I ain’t really fu**in’ with that BEEN TRILL, swear that sh*t is booty like Tip Drill,” said Pretty Flacko. “And I ain’t really into throwing shots, but these motherf***ers better gimme my props!”
Uh oh!
A$AP Rocky is also diving into the production side of the music scene, as he just lent his hand while working on the short film Baby Gangster, movie that portrays the former drug lord Fredrick James Staves. It turns out Rocky provided the score.
The director of the movie said of the short film:
I was intrigued by a man who had spent all of his drug money on his art: lowriding,” says British director Luke Monaghan of the towering Fredrick James Staves, the reformed 1980s Los Angeles drug kingpin and customized car aficionado, also known as Baby Gangster.
“He’s had some of the most legendary cars and also ran cocaine import and export in Compton. Interesting bloke.” Opening with a swaggering score from the filmmaker’s close collaborator A$AP Rocky, Monaghan’s monochromatic film gets up close and personal with the original member of the Compton Crips in his own neighborhood. “We hung out at his garage and watched movies a lot,” says Monaghan. “I didn’t want the fact that I liked him as a person to jade the view of the film. I wanted it to be impartial and let you make up your mind on a guy who has done a lot of bad things in his life… and some positive.”
