The number of Nigerian girls abducted in a second kidnapping carried out by Boko Haram has been pushed from eight to 11, according to the NY Times.
Men suspected of being fighters from the radical group Boko Haram kidnapped 11 more girls in Nigeria’s northeast, local officials said Tuesday, an intensification of its campaign against female education and the Nigerian government since the abduction of hundreds of schoolgirls three weeks ago.
It is also being reported that members of the Islamist organization attacked a northeastern Nigerian town on the Cameroon border earlier this week, killing hundreds of people.

News of the gruesome attack in Gamboru Ngala emerged hours after Islamists stormed the town on Monday, but casualty figures had remained unclear. Area senator Ahmed Zanna told AFP that “the death toll from the attack is around 300,” while residents said more than 100 bodies had been collected so far and that the toll was likely to rise.
