Two men are dead and one wounded after police-involved shootings rocked New York neighborhoods over the weekend.

Police report that one suspect was shot and wounded after authorities said he pointed a gun at officers. Michael Schultz, 23, was arrested and charged with attempted assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, criminal possession of a weapon and other charges, police said.

The first of the fatal shootings happened Friday when four officers shot and killed a man suspected of taking drugs and cash from a Manhattan pharmacy after the man raised his weapon at them, police said.

The suspect, identified by police as 45-year-old Scott Kato, was shot while alone in a car that got stuck in traffic beneath an underpass of the FDR Drive at 96th Street following the robbery some 30 blocks away.

On Sunday night, police shot and killed another man in Brooklyn who was suspected of stabbing a woman in a domestic incident, police said.

The officers had gone to an apartment on Clarkson Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday and found a 38-year-old woman stabbed in the shoulder and being treated by EMS, according to police.

While the officers were inside the apartment, police said a 39-year-old male who was in a back room lunged at them with a pair of scissors. Both officers fired, striking the suspect in the torso.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was hospitalized in stable condition.

All shootings have been deemed justified by the department.
