With Malia Obama’s Sweet Sixteen right around the corner, we’re sure the Secret Service will have their hands full.
Especially since 16 means driving — something First Lady Michelle Obama has revealed Malia is excited to tackle this summer. In an Access Hollywood interview on Thursday, FLOTUS had this to say about her growing girl.
“One child is going to be driving this summer,” FLOTUS said, joking: “Look out!”
“With Secret Service in the back?” host Billy Bush asked. “We’ve got a plan,” the always-resolute First Lady responded.
And that plan doesn’t involve FLOTUS or President Obama in the passenger seat, if it’s up to the White House. In an April interview with Live! co-host Michael Strahan, FLOTUS said:
“I think our agents don’t want us driving with teenagers. Especially the President’s detail. I don’t think they want him in the state when she’s learning how to drive.” Joking, she added to Strahan, “We will, fortunately, be able to hand that responsibility over to someone else.”
And for that, we’re sure they are grateful. Teaching a teenager to drive can be more stressful than Obama’s presidential duties.
Best of luck to Malia! Now we’re just wondering what the presidential daughter will be riding around in.
