Since Memorial Day is considered the unofficial start of summer, we thought this was the perfect time to put y’all up on some movies the world of hip-pop is looking forward to seeing.

Every thing from robots, to Mutant Turtles, genetically altered apes and James Brown plan on making this summer one for the record books. But those aren’t the only movie topics planning to get crowds of people grabbing their popcorn.

Take a look at our most anticipated movies of the summer, according to GlobalGrind.

1. Sin City: A Dame To Kill For: Starring Jessica Alba, this Sin City sequel follows a stripper named Nancy – who is no longer a boy toy. Instead, she’s out to avenge the killing of her savior and boyfriend John Hartigan, played by Bruce Willis. Directed by Robert Rodriguez, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For hits theaters on August 22nd.

2. The Fault In Our Stars: Sure, it’s a sappy teen romance novel turned into a movie, but hip-pop needs love too! Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort bring John Green’s best-selling novel to life as two cancer survivors who fall in love and discover themselves in the process. This one hits theaters June 6th.

3. Transformers: Age Of Extinction The latest iteration of these action flicks looks to close out June with a clash between Autobots and Dinobots. However, this one stands out because our boy Mark Wahlberg is the human star of the film. “Mark” your calendars for June 27th.

4. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: In this sequel, Caesar returns to lead his growing nation of genetically evolved apes, who have made a home for themselves and maintained peace. All that changes when a band of human survivors of a devastating virus unleashed a decade ago surface – and they’re out for revenge. Apes drops July 11th.

5. The Purge: Anarchy. The first one had so much potential, but some say it didn’t live up to expectations, despite ending up at number one its first week. Now that The Purge is back, they’ve opened up the world and taken the concept (nothing is illegal for one day a year) out of a house and onto the streets. Look for more mayhem once this one is released on July 18th.

6. Sex Tape: Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel star as a married couple that wakes up to discover the sex tape they made the evening before has gone missing, leading to a frantic search for its whereabouts. This one is slated to hit theaters July 25th.

7. Edge Of Tomorrow: Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt play futuristic military commanders who, each day, are forced to live, die and repeat. But in death they get another chance at fighting an alien race that has hit Earth with an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. This one hits theaters June 6th.

8. Hercules: The Rock plays Hercules, the Greek demigod, who has his life as a sword-for-hire tested when the King of Thrace and his daughter seek his aid in defeating a tyrannical warlord. This one opens July 25th.

9. 22 Jump Street: Officer Schmidt and Officer Jenko are back and this time, they’ve graduated to the big leagues: college! This hilarious sequel to 21 Jump Street promises just as much action and way more laughs, as Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill go undercover to try and take down crime at their local university. 22 Jump Street hits theaters everywhere on June 13th.

10. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: From the New York City sewer to the big screen, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are ready to take down Shredder and his evil band of foot soldiers. Shredder and the Foot Clan have taken hold of police, politicians and everyone in between, making life miserable for the citizens of the Big Apple. That is, until an unlikely group of mutant turtles discover their destiny, rising from below the city to stop Shredder in his tracks. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles also stars Megan Fox and hits theaters August 8th.

11. Get On Up: A true rags to riches story, Get On Up chronicles the life of the late great James Brown, from his unfortunate beginnings to his rise to stardom. Directed by Tate Taylor, the film boasts an all-star cast made up of Chadwick Boseman, David Andrew Nash, Nelson Ellis, and so many more. Check out this inspiring biopic in theaters August 1st.

12. Think Like A Man Too brings backs Kevin Hart and the boys, and Gabrielle Union and her girls, but this time they’re in Vegas!  The romantic comedy sequel plans on shocking people again by putting up amazing numbers this summer. TLAM2 hits theaters June 20th.
