On Tuesday, President Barack Obama announced plans to remove all troops from Afghanistan by 2016, starting with a significant withdraw that would leave only 9,800 troops in the country by year’s end. By the end of 2015, that number would be reduced by roughly half. “We have to recognize that Afghanistan will not be a perfect place, and it is not America’s responsibility to make it one,” Obama said.
