After a long winter, the sun is finally shining on New York City. And everybody knows with great weather comes great free concerts.

Every summer, various organizations host a series of free shows, bringing freshness to New York’s brutal summers. So if you live in NYC and you need an excuse to get some sun, here are four organizations hosting free concerts and the best shows they’ll be offering this summer.

1. SUMMERSTAGE

It’s not summer in New York without SummerStage. Holding it down since 2010, the City Parks Foundation-sponsored events include everything from poetry readings to dance performances. However, the free hip-hop shows always draw the biggest crowds. This year’s best SummerStage shows include Pro Era and Mobb Deep.

Pro Era– June 5, 2014 @ Red Hook Park, 7:00pm-10:00pm

Duck Down Music BBQ w/ Boot Camp Clik & Friends– June 10, 2014 @ Betsy Head Park, 6:00-9:00pm

DITC (Lord Finesse, A.G., & More)– June 26, 2014 @ Crotona Park, 7:00pm-9:00pm

Beatnuts/Ana Tijoux/Bodega Bamz/DJ Tony Touch– July 9, 2014 @ Central Park, 6:00pm-9:00pm

Mobb Deep– July 17, 2014 @ Queensbridge Park, 7:00pm-9:00pm

2. GOOD MORNING AMERICA

ABC’s morning news show will be hosting some of this summer’s most exciting shows, featuring big names like Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez, and Robin Thicke. All concerts will be held in Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield, from 7:00am-9:00am. If you don’t mind getting up a little early to beat the crowds, you’re bound to have a blast at these free shows.

Demi Lovato– June 6, 2014

Jennifer Lopez– June 20, 2014

Afrojack– June 27, 2014

Jason Derulo– July 4, 2014

Robin Thicke– August 22, 2014

3. TODAY’s TOYOTA CONCERT SERIES

NBC’s Today Show, together with Toyota, have already started rocking Midtown with weekly free concerts that kicked off in May with a performance from Mariah Carey. If you missed Pharrell Williams, who performed this morning, don’t fret – there’s still plenty of awesome shows coming up, including Ariana Grande and Usher. Today Toyota Concerts will be held every Friday at Rockefeller Plaza. For best viewing, fans are recommended to arrive at 6:00 am.
