Talk about southern hospitality.
Yelawolf mostly works around the spotlight that’s been on Southern hip-hop for a while, but this aesthetic distance has allowed him to craft his own original style. And it’s evident that the Alabama rapper’s been sharpening his sound from his new single “Honey Brown.”
Over a funky guitar line, Yelawolf delivers some hard-hitting bars, only to break our ankles with a melodic (un-Auto-Tuned) hook. His previous single, “Box Chevy V,” also channeled a twangy blues sound that captures the essence of the South in a more old school way.
“Honey Brown” will be on Yela’s forthcoming album, Love Story, expected to drop later this year. Check out the new single below.
