Top Dawg Entertainment. Founded by owner Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, TDE currently holds some of the most talented artists in the game: Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad and first lady SZA. While different, each of these artists have released their own critically acclaimed individual projects and achieved their own level of success.

The lyrical abilities of Kendrick Lamar and Ab-Soul, Southern style of Isaiah Rashad, gangsta mentalities of ScHoolboy Q and Jay Rock, and the extra spice of SZA’s chill wave sound stirs all up for a perfect blend of great music.

With the celebration of K.Dot’s 27th birthday today and Ab-Soul’s new album These Days… coming out next week, we couldn’t help but put together our reasons as to why TDE might just be the best camp in the game right now.

1. Kendrick Lamar dropped his studio album good kid m.A.A.d city about 2 years ago; but it still feels like it just came out. Time to call it classic, or nah?

2. ScHoolboy Q’s album Oxymoron and his whole persona brought smart gangsta rap back when it was well needed.

3. Can’t forget the bucket hat, he brought that back too. “Bought the gangstas back to bucket hat, how real is that?”

4. K.Dot in the booth. He can’t seem to get on a track without murder. This is also why everyone wants to collaborate with him; rappers, alternative musicians and even rock bands.

5. #NeverForget: “Your career ain’t sh*t unless you got some Kendrick in it.”

6. Ab-Soul’s creative lyricism will have you in deep thought like…

7. SZA. Is. Beautiful. Since signing to TDE, this beauty has been featured on many music and hair blogs. Go SZA.

8. They genuinely love their music and love to have fun with it.

9. Isaiah Rashad is from the South, but raps with a style that fuses the West Side’s greatest.

10. #TheyCleanUpNice

11. SZA’s latest EP Z is sure to leave you in a trance…

12. They continue to promote a positive movement: HiiiPower.

13. All of these albums are well done.

14. SZA x Ab-Soul = Curls for days.

15. They don’t care for societal norms. Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock form a collaborative group called “Black Hippy.”

16. They are truly an independent set of artists. They make their music the way they would like for us to hear it, and that – above all – is important.
