So, Dov Charney, the CEO of American Apparel, was recently fired, and it had nothing to do with the multi-million dollar company not hitting the mark in the sales department. The company is known for its scandalous advertisements and eccentric styles for men and women, but the only scandal getting people today is involving Charney. Over the past couple of years, there have been many allegations accusing the CEO of sexual harassment on the job.

As the allegations rolled in, the company’s board always had Charney’s back, but now they’re a little fed up with the negative publicity. According to a press release from the company board, they have decided to relieve Charney of his duties due to what they call “misconduct.”

“The Board’s decision to replace Mr. Charney grew out of an ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct. We take no joy in this, but the Board felt it was the right thing to do. Dov Charney created American Apparel, but the Company has grown much larger than any one individual and we are confident that its greatest days are still ahead.”

But all hope isn’t lost; the show must go on. The press release also mentioned the board’s active search for a successor, one with less baggage.

“The Board is working with a search firm to identify candidates for the job of permanent CEO and, based on our initial discussions with the search firm, we expect the list of possible successors will be impressive.”

The board assures the public that American Apparel will be able to survive without the guidance of Charney. Let’s just hope the next CEO doesn’t have any dirty secrets.
