Have you finally finished binge-watching Season 2 of Netflix’s hit series Orange Is The New Black? Of course you did, practically everyone has been done for weeks since its initial release earlier this month.

Gracing the July cover of Allure magazine is Taylor Schilling, known for her role as Piper Chapman, a leading lady of OITNB’s Litchfield all-female prison. During the interview, Taylor reveals that although she may play a prisoner, she will not be imprisoned by society’s body standards.

The 29-year-old budding actress opened up to Allure about her painful childhood experiences regarding low self-esteem and the liberating feeling of playing Piper. The issue hits stands on June 30th, but until then, check out a few highlights and photos below.

On Childhood Self-Esteem:

“It was tough at home, and it was tough at school,” Schilling told the mag. “My experience was painful, so painful. There was a period of time I had very short hair, and I had glasses, and I was very tall for my age.”

On Feeling Liberated Filming OITNB:

“It’s totally liberating,” Schilling tells the mag. “There’s freedom in not having to make it about how my jeans fit or what my boobs look like in a top. All I have to do now is play.”

On Her Self-Confidence Now:

“I don’t feel bound by my face or my body,” she says. “I don’t feel like that’s the biggest gift I have to offer the world. I feel like there are more parts of me to offer than that.”
