A former Chick-fil-A employee was accused of holding up a KFC drive-thru in Rock Hill, S.C. and taking off with $516.02.

After a day and a car chase later, Jeffrey Coley, 50, was arrested by police in his Plymouth Neon, where cops found the cash drawer of money and less than a gram of methamphetamine.

Coley, who is married with one child, told police that he is his family’s sole breadwinner, and that the $8.50 an hour he makes at Chick-fil-A just wasn’t cutting it for them.

According to Mark Baldwin, Chick-fil-A corporate spokesman, Coley was fired from his job earlier this month because he failed to show up to work two days in a row.

And just when you thought things couldn’t get worse, Norman Dobson, a KFC area manager, told the Rock Hill Herald that Coley has been banned from all KFC stores and from speaking to any of its employees because of this traumatic experience.

“Neither one of these young ladies has worked since the incident,” Dobson told the Herald. “They’re terrified; they’re not getting a good night’s sleep. He’s turned their lives upside down. They’re out there trying to make an honest living and this is what they got.”

Coley was charged with armed robbery, possession of a gun during a violent crime, failure to stop for the police, and possession of methamphetamine.
