There’s a really long list of reasons why you want to be best friends with Lupita Nyong’o, we know. And now, we present you with reason No. 234.
Not only is Vogue‘s current cover girl an award-winning actress on and off the silver screen, but the Most Beautiful Person of 2014 ever also has some mean hair braiding skills. Before she went on to become the apple of America’s (and the rest of the world’s) eye, she learned how to cornrow, box braid, and twist from her Kenyan aunt:
“I decided it was going to be my side hustle,” explains Lupita in a Vogue video. “I was going to make some money braiding people’s hair. So I went to the great troubles of creating a poster, but I just didn’t have the heart to charge anyone.”
Well, good thing that didn’t work out, amirite? Now, she just enjoys giving her signature “Lu’s Dos” to her BFFs, which she did during a hair-braiding party filmed by Vogue, and yes, we’re jealous.
We’re just going to assume that our invitation was lost in the mail. Besides, we had, like, a ton of errands to do that day anyway.
