Listen up. We’re going to need you to stop what you’re doing right now and just salute. Salute to fucking freedom and salute to a mothafuckin America Hero.

Salute to goalkeeper Tim Howard, the man who, by himself, almost willed the United States to a win against Belgium yesterday during the round of 16 stage in the World Cup. Son had a Michael Jordan type of performance against an absurdly aggressive Belgium team, saving 16 goals, which, yes, is a World Cup record.

But, unfortunately, that wasn’t enough: Belgium beat the US 2-1, needing extra time to score two goals.

Let’s be clear: The L the United States took yesterday is no indictment on Timmy, but rather the rest of the American team, which is trash (we’re looking at you, Michael fucking Bradley.)

Now that the States is officially knocked out the tournament, it’s understandable that soccer is out of the United States news cycle.

So before, ya’ll totally forget, here’s a post about our new American Hero.

Humble beginnings

You might think the American Hero had some a crazy up-bringing. But nope. Howard has pretty humble p-bringings. He was born in Bergen, New Jersey, the son of a black father, who was a truck driver, and a Hungarian mother.

Tim has Tourette syndrome

Our American Hero was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome when he was in the sixth grade. Talking about his ailment, Howard says he doesn’t let it affect him, saying:

“I see myself as a positive example that Tourette syndrome does not have to be an illness. It’s just a condition, which still allows anyone to fulfill their dreams.”

He’s an Animal lover

In fact, earlier this year, the American hero joined PETA’s Ink not mink campaign. (As you can see the pic above, he’s a fan of ink.)

Speaking to PETA about animals (specially fur) Howard said:

“Protecting animals is very important to me, and I think speaking out against fur is an amazing cause. When I see someone wearing fur, I just want to sit them down in front of one of PETA’s videos and show them just how badly animals suffer for this supposed fabric that no one needs.”

Tim is married (sorry, ladies)

The American Hero has been marred to Laura Howard for more than 11 years now. The two have two young kids together.

Tim is a Public Enemy fan

What do you think Timothy’s favorite Public Enemy song is, “Caught, Can We Get a Witness?”
