The NYPD discovered the body of a 2-year-old girl in Prospect Park lake Saturday afternoon, after she was reported missing.
Ruhshona Kurbonova was with her family near a boat basin, a popular spot in the park, when she and her brother somehow became separated from her parent, police say.
An eyewitness says they saw the boy by himself dripping wet and proceeded to call the police. The boy led the police to his mother, which is when they realized the little girl was missing. According to reports, she was reported missing at 1pm and police and people in the park searched for her for 5 hours, until her body was found at 6pm.
There is still no word as to how Ruhshona wound up in the lake. Her mother was taken to the hospital later on and is being questioned by the police.
