Thanks to the Paterson, NJ community standing together for justice, a suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of 12-year-old Genesis Rincon.

According to Eyewitness NewsJhymiere Moore, 19, turned himself into authorities after a rally and candlelight vigil was held for Rincon this week.

Moore reportedly surrendered to authorities around midnight, shortly after the end of a vigil and rally during which the community called for justice and action. Prosecutors say he turned himself in because of the growing pressure being put on by police, the family and the community. He reportedly told authorities that Genesis was not the intended target, nor is there any evidence he was targeting one of the children with her at the time.

Rincon was with friends when she was shot in the head while riding her scooter on Saturday. She was taken to the local hospital in Paterson where she was pronounced brain-dead. Her family took her off life support on Sunday.

Moore has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. His bail has been set at $2 million.
