A storm that hit the East Coast on Tuesday afternoon killed 5 people and left many homes without power. The storm took over the Syracuse area of New York and Philadelphia, ripping trees from the ground and causing power outages to more than 500,000 people in both areas. Four people died from collapsed homes. The cause of the fifth death is currently unknown. [Reuters]

Violence continues to erupt in Israel, as 40 Palestinians were killed on Tuesday. The offensive attacks began on Monday, when 10 Palestinians were murdered, including two children. After Hamas launched rockets into Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement to the public. “The army is ready for all possibilities,” he said. “Hamas will pay a heavy price for firing toward Israeli citizens.” [AP]

Questionable fans can rejoice for their sexy mugshot felon. Jeremy Meeks’ charges have been reduced from multiple charges to just one charge of “felon in possession of firearm.” He was, however, turned over to federal authorities. If convicted, Meeks can face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $25,000. Keep your wallets in your purses, ladies. [Washington Post

The adoptive son of Jerry Sandusky has spoken to Oprah about being sexually abused by his father. In a special set to air on July 17 on OWN, Matthew Sandusky will share details that haven’t been told to the public – until now. Matthew tells Oprah that the “rituals” began when he was just 10-years-old. [TMZ]
