The death toll from Israeli air strikes on Gaza continued to rise as militants in the enclave kept up rocket attacks on Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and other cities Friday, according to Palestinian officials.

Sources confirmed that 100 have died as a result of the growing violence. Friday also saw the death of two people in a car in the Bureij area. In addition, the Palestinian health ministry says that 675 people – mainly civilians – have been injured in Israel’s Operation Protective Edge.

From the BBC:

Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes since launching its operation on Tuesday to stop rocket fire from Gaza. Militants there continue to fire on Israel, causing damage and injuries.

The US earlier offered to help with a truce in a call to Israel’s PM. Egypt and Turkey have both criticized Israel’s use of force.

President Obama told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by telephone on Thursday that the United States was willing to help negotiate a ceasefire, the White House said. Earlier, Netanyahu said in a televised statement: “So far the battle is progressing as planned but we can expect further stages in future.”
