So this is happening.

A pregnant, Mexican Red Rump tarantula named Penelope is on the loose in Brooklyn.

According to a flyer spotted in South Slope and posted onto Reddit, the “mostly harmless” spider recently went missing and her owner is now seeking a safe return.

“She’s mostly active at night and likes to hide in dark corners. She shouldn’t bite, but sometimes jumps when frightened,” the poster reads.

We have to be honest, if we come across this spider while on the way for morning coffee, doubt we’ll be scooping her up like a lost pup, in fact, running the other way seems like a more plausible idea. And according to Yahoo, pregnant spiders can lay anywhere from 400 and 1000 eggs between the months of July and September. So, there’s that.

Be safe out there, folks.
