Crowd funding isn’t just for your wedding or film project anymore.

Sites like Kickstater and GoFundMe have provided millions of people with a chance to follow their dreams with a little help from the internet.

The Daily Show‘s Jon Stewart is the latest to create a Kickstarter campaign to buy CNN for $10 billion; except it’s not a real page. The funny man created the site www.LetsBuyCNN.com in an effort to call out the channel on its debatable downfall of news coverage. The faux Kickstater reads:

“CNN, America’s first 24-hour cable news network, has been terrible for many, many years. Does it have to be that way? Who knows, maybe it does. So let’s find out for ourselves!”

The perks for the project include your head in a CNN interview box, a 24 hour two-week investigation on your lost car keys, a CNN anchor Hunger Games fight to the death, and more.

On the upside, there are plenty of other bizarre campaigns that have launched hundreds of thousands of dollars for their campaigns.

From Donut Towers, and White Privilege, to a special golden egg, here are some of the craziest Kickstarter campaigns. What’s the craziest crowd funding project you’ve ever seen?

1. Man Creates Kickstarter To Make Potato Salad

Goal: $20

Pledged: $61,652

With little knowledge on how to make potato salad, Zack Danger Brown jumped to Kickstarter for help to make the yummy meal. What he didn’t expect was for the project to go viral. After appearing on ABC News and every blog you can think of, Brown raised over $60,000 for his project. With nine more days remaining, Brown says he wants to donate the money to charity-and throw a potato salad party. Turn up! [NBC Washington]

2. Woman Creates GoFundMe For White Privilege

Goal: $135,000

Pledged: $5,535

GoFundMe user Yaya M isn’t to her goal for white privilege just yet, but she created the page to spark conversation. “Although I have layered oppressions that have affected my ability to access my slice of the American Pie™, no issue has affected me more readily than my lack of white privilege,” she says on the site. Yaya picked the $135k amount after calculating her work history and lining it up to what she should be making if she was a white man. [Huffington Post]

3. Group Creates Kickstarter For Inflatable Lionel Richie Head

Goal: $4,900

Pledged: $8,016

New Englanders love Lionel Richie. So much so that an art group called Hungry Castle created the campaign in 2011 to create an inflatable decoration for the annual Music and Arts ‘Bestival.’ The decoration was a big hit and the singer’s head was able to pop up and say “Hello” to fans. 5. Help Make a Donut Tower, Because Donuts

6. Vegans Create Edible Cups

Goal: $10,000

8. Woman Wants You To Help Make Scrambled Eggs..Inside The Egg

Goal: $34,500

Pledged: $170,277

We all have things we don’t need lying around (mechanical wine openers, robot vacuum cleaners) so what’s the harm of a machine that scrambles your eggs for you? The gadget above helps scramble the egg without cracking the actual egg. Here’s how it works: the gadget helps remove the white yolk inside of the egg-shell without exposing it to air. Since there’s no annoying mix, the eggs taste fresh and delicious. The gadget was recently funded on May 15, so be on the lookout for this very cool item soon. [Kickstarter]
