In today’s “Dog News,” one dog is overwhelmed with joy after reunion with his owner, while a dog owner from Chicago is mourning the loss of their pup after he was shot by a cop.

Let the waterworks commence.

The Dog Days Are Over

Rebecca Ehalt’s schnauzer was more than happy to see her after a family reunion in Pennsylvania. Ehalt, who moved to Slovenia two years ago was greeted with tears from the family dog. The dog was so happy, he appears to pass out.

Upon their reunion, the pooch squealed, jumped on her and smothered her with kisses. Then, after a few moments, the pup started to wobble and passed out from excitement. Ehalt posted a video of it on YouTube, writing that “in fairness,” two years “is 14 years in dog years.” The video has more than 16 million views.

The family took the pup to the veterinarian where he happened to be just fine.

All Dogs Go To Heaven

Nicole Echlin lost her  1-year-old pet Apollo after police shot the dog in the head. To make matters worse, the incident happened right in front of her six-year-old daughter.

“We were in the lawn and the cop already had his gun out,” Echlin explained. “I tried to call him in the house and he just stood there staring and I guess he showed his teeth and the cop just shot him, right in front of me and my 6-year-old daughter.”

The daughter immediately “started screaming,” Echlin recalled.

Echlin says the dog was never aggressive, but may have shown his teeth when the officer pulled the gun out. Police have yet to conduct an investigation on the case.

In the meantime, Echlin is working with dog advocacy groups to bring justice to her old friend. Read more about the unfortunate incident here…. [Raw Story]
