Anwan Glover walked away from a recent stabbing in a D.C. club with a few scratches and a positive outlook on it all. The actor was stopped by TMZ in his city, where he called the incident a small setback. Glover, who recently starred in Twelve Years A Slave, says that his city can be rough around the edges, but his fans and family have gotten him through the surprising incident. [TMZ]

Three immigrant shelters for children are set to close their doors on Monday. The shelters, located in Texas, California, and Oklahoma, have done little to secure immigrant children. Over 7,000 were housed in the locations in May and stayed for approximately 35 days. Since their opening in October 2013, 57,000 children from Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala were caught crossing the Mexican border illegally. [USA Today

The NYPD has caught a lot of flack for their tactics against pedestrians, but now the actions of Rikers Island officers against teenagers in the adolescent facilities is being called into question. A 72-page-report revealed that the officers had engaged in a “systematic culture of violence” against teens, with daily beatings. The officers were never reprimanded for their actions. They would frequently drag the teens to a “black hole” and beat them profusely. [DNA Info]

As awareness for children perishing in hot cars continues, a man from Wichita, Kansas was reminded that he left his 10-month-old adopted daughter in a sweltering hot car while he watched Game of Thrones. Seth Jackson was charged with first-degree murder for his daughter’s death. Jackson claims that upon watching a scene with a crying baby, he remembered that he left the little girl in the car. [AP
