The three-day cease-fire between Israel and Hamas continues today, allowing aids to come into Gaza and help the thousands who survived the previous air strikes. The truce is said to still be in effect with hope that Israel will send negotiators to Cairo to discuss a long-term deal. Over 1,900 Palestinians have died in the conflict in Gaza including 452 children and 235 women. 64 Israeli  soldiers have died. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised the public that military operations will continue if the ceasefire is ended by Hamas. While the U.S has denied selling weapons to Kurdish forces in Iraq, State Department officials confirmed with the New York Times that the purchases happened after the airstrikes against ISIS occurred on Friday. U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel told reporters that the airstrikes proved to be effective. Kurdish forces were able to get back two towns that were recently taken over by ISIS. [Gawker]

Researchers may have found the source of the Ebola outbreaks that have killed over 900 people. A 2-year-old from a village in New Guinea, has been identified as Patient Zero. The child was admitted to a local hospital where he suffered vomiting, black stool and a fever. The child died in December 2013 and soon after his sister and grandmother died. The virus was spread throughout the village after the grandmother’s funeral. [CNN]

A shooting that occurred in New Orleans’ Ninth Ward has left two children dead and five injured. The victims injured include a two-year-old and a four-year-old. The shooting happened Sunday night. Two victims have been labeled stable while the children and another victim remain in critical condition. [AP]
