The Facebook fire challenge that is unusually popular with young teens has made headlines all month, but never before have we seen a mother facilitating the act.

Janie Lachelle Talley, 41, knowingly allowed her 16-year-old son to douse himself in nail polish remover, and then set himself ablaze. The act is part of a Facebook challenge that encourages people to post a video of themselves on fire. Recently, young teens have been hospitalized for severe burns from participating in the challenge.

Youth Crimes Detectives and Social Services investigated the incident and said that the mother recorded the event while others put out the fire. The teen suffered minor burns to his chest and neck.

Talley was arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Facebook has removed many of the fire challenge videos, and authorities are actively discouraging people from participating.
