It seems like just yesterday that KeKe Palmer warmed our hearts as the cute 12-year-old girl alongside Laurence Fishburne and Angela Bassett in Akeelah and the Bee. Now she’s 21 and can officially have a drink, plus she looks better than ever with her new short ‘do.
The Just KeKe host went from being the fourth highest paid child actor to breaking barriers not only as the youngest talk show host in history, but as the first African-American to portray Cinderella on Broadway. Not a bad way to begin adulthood.
Unlike most Hollywood starlets her age, Keke’s not out hitting the clubs and popping bottles every night; she has to be up at the crack of dawn to prepare for her new job as a TV host on BET. When asked about her success, she told the Huffington Post:
“I come from a very small, poor town just outside of the Chicago area and I know what it’s like to dream and accomplish some of your goals, but I would never want to do a show where I am preaching to anyone because I do not like being preached at. I want to learn right along with my audience and every show will be a collaborative effort.”
