A federal judge has stood by Louisiana’s ban on same-sex marriage by deeming it constitutional. U.S. District Court Judge Martin Feldman ruled that gay couples’ fundamental rights weren’t fundamental at all, because gay marriage apparently never had a role in American traditions. He also included that gay marriage will serve as somewhat of a gateway to opening other marriage bans, including incest. [BuzzFeed]

A professor from Idaho State University was embarrassed and shocked when he accidentally shot himself in the foot during a lecture. Police say the gun was “pocketed, not holstered” when the gun went off. The incident comes months after the state passed the controversial law to allow concealed weapons on college campuses. [Huff Post

Michael Lewis broke into the home of a Phoenix woman who took matters into her own hands. Audio of the 911 call the widow made during the break-in indicates what happened when Lewis found the woman in the bathroom and proceeded to beat her. The woman shot Lewis with a .38 caliber gun. Frantic and panicked, the dispatcher stayed on the phone with the woman until the police arrived. Lewis pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and aggravated assault. He is expected to be sentenced September 15. [11 Alive

One man who hoped for a happy ending on his birthday ended up in the hospital when his roommate stabbed him right in the middle of his threesome. Antonio Flores Narcisso, 42, barged in on his roommate’s threesome and stabbed him with a kitchen knife for being too loud. He was charged with burglary with intent to commit felony force. [Gawker
