Kim Kardashian and Kanye West shocked the world last year when they revealed their baby girl’s unique name.
What’s more shocking than the name North West? The fact that Kim and ‘Ye didn’t actually come up with it. During her interview with British GQ, Mrs. West revealed that the name began as a tabloid rumor, but not everyone thought it was as ridiculous as the gossip magazines made it seem.
“It was a rumor in the press and we’d never really considered the name North seriously at all. But Kanye and I were having lunch and Pharrell came over to us and said, ‘Oh my God, are you guys really going to call your daughter North? That is the best name.'”
And Pharrell wasn’t the only one taken by the moniker.
“Then a little while later Anna Wintour came over and asked the same thing. She told us, ‘North is a genius name.’ Kanye and I looked at one another and just laughed. I guess at that point it sort of stuck.”
Naturally, they had to pick the name after it got the Wintour seal of approval.
While Kim chatted it up about her adorable family in London, Kanye jetted over to Australia for a concert.
Before taking the stage, Yeezus and his loyal band of followers squeezed in a little workout. The group, which included fellow rapper Pusha T, decided to head to a small gym in Perth to play some basketball.
Kanye appeared happy, even cracking an occasional smile, while sweating it out and shooting hoops with his crew. The “Bound 2” singer was photographed wiping sweat from his brow, revealing the tiny belly hiding beneath his t-shirt.
