It’s been a real crucial time for the homie Young Jeezy. In addition to his highly anticipated new album dropping, he’s had to deal with bogus legal troubles. Nothing a real G can’t handle though. His new remix for ‘Holy Ghost’ touches on all that. In addition to a dope 16 from Kendrick Lamar, ‘Holy Ghost’ looks to be another winner off that Seen It All album.

Since I first peeped his EP for a years back, I knew that the windy city’s own BJ the Chicago Kid was a new generation of R&B singer. His record with Schoolboy Q, ‘Studio’ was proof of that. All that said, his latest track ‘Go Girl’ might be that one solo effort that finally kicks in the door of all out success for him.

It’s gonna be a minute for Brick Squad head honcho Gucci Mane. If trouble from the police is the stench in the air, then Gucci stays musty like 90 degrees in New Orleans. Being locked down can’t stop him, though. His music is still hitting the streets. ‘You’s A Nobody’ is his latest club anthem which features fellow Brick Squad soldier Frenchie. Too bad Gucci won’t be around to promote this dope record with mad potential.

Very rarely, if ever, will I write about a beat. That’s because most producers (at least the ones with songs on the radio including myself) don’t make instrumentals that you can vibe to. A few do, though, including Jahlil, Mustard,  MF Doom and Mad Lib. Legends like Swizz Beats, Pete Rock, Kanye West and the late J Dilla come to mind as well. Well, add MPC maestro araabMUZIK to that list. His ‘Toro’ beat is an MC’s (note I said MC not rapper) pipe dream and one of the hottest leaks this week.

D Why is a West Virginia rapper on the rise. You don’t hear much in terms of new hip hop coming from the Virginia region outside of the Pharrells and Pusha Ts of the world. D hopes to change this, especially for the ‘West’ and make a name for himself, with his appropriately titled new single ‘Feeling Myself.’ If you missed it, his song Single In The Summer is worth checkin’ for too.
