Speaking out for the first time since she was brutally attacked while attending a New York Fashion Week event, Love & Hip-Hop: New York star Tahiry staunchly denounced violence against women and thanked her fans for their support.

“Thank you ALL for your well wishes. I am both appreciative and grateful to have you on my team and call you #teamtahiry! I am sincerely touched by your outpouring of love,” she wrote below the Instagram photograph posted above.

She continued:

As you may or may not know, on Monday, Sept. 8, I was attacked, assaulted and violated, while in the workplace, by a man. I was beaten because I am woman with a voice and refuse to be disrespected. It is more proof that the violence against women is real and needs to be addressed publicly. The shaming and disrespecting of women/victims of violent abuses must stop. Violence against women must stop; a women’s voice and refusal to be disrespected is not grounds for physical abuse. #iamwoman #myvoicematters More to the point, I am home, healing and surrounded by love. Rest assured, I will continue all my efforts and endeavors with the same faith, determination, passion and spirit I have always possesed. Again, thank you! You are ALL heroes of mine! Love, Tahiry

If you recall, Tahiry was hospitalized after being brutally beaten by Carlos Gonzales, the production manager of the Helen Mills event venue — the same venue where the Toure Designs fashion show was being held. Tahiry was scheduled to walk Toure’s runway, but the show was canceled in the aftermath of her attack.

The two reportedly shared words after Gonzales made some less than flattering remarks about the reality star. She allegedly warned him not to speak to her disrespectfully. Gonzales struck her instead. According to multiple witnesses, it took seven to eight men to pull Gonzales off of Tahiry.

She was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital to receive medical attention and is said to be recovering.

The attack came just days after a video of ex-Baltimore Raven Ray Rice beating his wife Janay became public. The disturbing incident has pushed domestic violence and violence against women in general into the media spotlight.
