To combat the Ebola crisis crippling West African nations, President Obama’s administration is sending 3,000 U.S. military personnel to supply medical and logistical support. Obama announced the plan, which includes the building of 17 new health-care facilities and an increase in the number of beds needed to isolate and treat victims, Tuesday during a visit to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. A Missouri teen who was stopped by cops on Sunday for a minor traffic warrant is in critical condition after police stunned him with a Taser. Witnesses to the stop say police used excessive force on Bryce Masters of Independence. “You could tell the kid was going into convulsions,” witness Michelle Baker told Fox4kc.com. “[The cop] turned him over and his head was dangling … and he had blood coming out.” An Independence Police spokesman said that Masters refused to cooperate, prompting the use of the Taser. An attorney for the family of Darrien Hunt, the young black man fatally shot by police for holding a toy sword, says an independent autopsy reveals the 22-year-old was shot six times while running away. Utah Police maintain the sword was real, reporting that Hunt lunged at them and prompted the shooting. Read more here…[MSNBC]

So this happened. A 4-year-old girl in Norway walked three miles while sleepwalking Sunday night after dreaming her house was on fire. The girl was being watched by her aunt, who was surprised when police contacted her about the wandering child. According to the BBCThe girl apparently remembers dreaming that the house was on fire, putting on her boots and unlocking the front door, her aunt says. She probably went first to a nearby fish factory and then walked through an 800m (2,600ft) tunnel to get to Honningsvag. Read about her journey here…[BBC]
