This is a sad ending to the ice bucket challenge.

A firefighter in Kentucky has passed away after he was injured a month ago while helping Campbellsville Marching Band participate in the challenge.

According to AP, Tony Grider died yesterday from injuries following an incident that occurred when he and another 22-year-old firefighter got too close to power lines while pouring the ice water from a ladder.

The site reports:

He and 22-year-old firefighter Simon Quinn were on the fire truck’s ladder when it got too close to a power line after dumping water on Campbellsville University’s marching band in the charity stunt to raise awareness for the disease ALS.

Quinn was released from the hospital Sept. 15.

Two other firefighters were injured, but were released from the hospital.

We pray for Grider’s family during this tragic time.
