It’s been more than a year since Kendrick Lamar dropped the verse that shook up the rap world: his epic, name-dropping “Control” verse.

Nowadays, Kendrick seems to be in a more peaceful space — at least judging by his new single “i” — but he still acknowledges the impact that verse had on hip-hop.

The rapper dropped by Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Power 106 yesterday, and was asked about “Control” – again. More specifically, however, he was asked about his relationship with Drake and J. Cole — two of the rappers K.Dot called out.

Here’s what he said:

“It’s all good because personally I respect these dudes as people, so outside of that, it’s really nothing…I respect their music. I respect them as individuals and creators. I think what the media tried to do is insane because they take these black young brothers and really try to clash it and make them bump heads and it’s not right. I think that’s why it’s great to really show people how we support one another.”

We wonder if Drake feels the same way?
