A report from Frontline on the overall mental health of football players revealed that 76 of 79 deceased players had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, better known as CTE. The brain disease is caused by constant trauma. Another study reported out of 170 football players from the league’s various levels like professional, high school, and college, 101 players tested positive for the brain disorder. On Tuesday, an autopsy confirmed former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, who killed his girlfriend and himself, had the disease. The Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessment has revealed the war in ISIS is costing taxpayers over $900 million dollars. The use of “ground forces” and the military will likely cost Americans an additional $200 to $300 million dollars a month. The summary of the high costs were broken down into three scenarios, “Boots on the Ground,” “Lower Intensity Air Campaign” and “High Intensity Air Campaign.” If needed, U.S troops can be deployed on the ground, skyrocketing the costs to $1 billion a month. Gun violence has another face as David Kedra, a Pennsylvania trooper who was shot in the chest during a training exercise. The shooting is currently under investigation. The 26-year-old is the second trooper to die this month after Cpl. Bryon Dickson’s death in an ambush last week. A man named Charles Vacca was also a victim of a similar fate. During his training exercise, he was accidentally shot in the head by his student, a 9-year-old girl. Read more about it here…[Huff Post
