If you thought the events surrounding the making of the Aaliyah biopic were weird, hold your breath -because you ain’t seen nothing yet.
As we all know, Lifetime released the first trailer of the film detailing the R&B darling’s life. The odd thing, however, is that it’s set to music by…Iggy Azalea.
Before you pass judgment, keep in mind that the made-for-TV movie, produced by the queen of hot topics Wendy Williams, was not supported by Aaliyah’s family, causing original star Zendaya Coleman to drop out. Because the film is unauthorized, Lifetime could not get the rights to use Aaliyah’s music.
Still, we’ve got to admit Iggy is a weird choice for a TV movie about an R&B singer. Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, starring Alexandra Shipp, will air on November 15.
Raven-Symone has been notoriously private throughout her long, long career. So surprisingly, the superstar recently set down with queen of the universe, Oprah, for an episode of Where Are They Now, and opened up about how she avoided the pitfalls of being young and rich.
“My parents taught me to keep my private life private to the best of my ability. They showed me all the role models out there that I could turn into and what I want for myself for my future,” she said.
And if you thought she would hold her tongue, think twice. The sassy star kept it one hundred when asked how people fall victim to the paparazzi.
“It’s unnecessary to go to the most popular restaurant in the world when you have a scandal on your head and then get mad that someone is going to take a picture of you,” she said. “That’s your fault, boo boo. Stay in the house.”
Joaquin Phoenix is heading back to the big screen in a comedy-drama called Inherent Vice. Joaquin is playing Larry “Doc” Sportello, a detective investigating the disappearance of an ex-girlfriend. The movie also stars other A-Listers such as Reese Witherspoon, Josh Brolin, and Owen Wilson. Inherent Vice will hit theaters in December.
