Yesterday, 13 people protesting outside of the Ferguson Police Department were arrested and held in jail for 18 hours before being released.

According to the Huffington Post, the protestors were forced to wear orange jumpsuits while they waited for an update on their arrest, and had bails set as high as $2,700.

The site reports:

Bail for some was set as high as $2,700. Wilson said that was later reduced to $1,000, an amount he said he still considered excessive. A jail official didn’t respond to a message seeking comment.

The treatment of those arrested Friday contrasted with most others who have been charged in demonstrations since the Aug. 9 shooting of Brown, 18, by Ferguson Officer Darren Wilson. In the past, protesters have been released after a few hours, or held overnight. Bail has typically been a few hundred dollars.

One woman named Brittany Farrell was able to capture pictures of other arrested protestors, showing that there were 4 men in the group, and the rest were women.

As we previously reported, most protestors were seen on the sidewalk while demonstrating when they were arrested, but were charged with failure to comply with police, noise ordinance violations, and resisting arrest.

When they all emerged from custody after nearly 18 hours, they came out screaming, “If Mike don’t get it, shut it down,” before a moment of silence was held. We will keep you updated with the latest in Ferguson as details emerge.
