Oh, ELLE. Why must we keep going through this?
Yesterday, ELLE had people scratching their heads when the women’s magazine put Timberlands as this year’s fashion trend. Of course, this is absolutely absurd. Anyone with eyes knows that Timberland boots are no trend…they’re part of pop culture.
In fact, they’ve been part of pop culture since the early ’90s, when it became the favorite shoe of your favorite gangsta rapper, from The Notorious B.I.G. to Nas to Jay Z.
Timberlands have had a couple of down years throughout the decade, but the brand never went away. And it damn sure isn’t getting started just because a couple of white folk and North West were seen wearing the boots.
So it’s time to take ELLE and those not in the know back to school. Here is the pop culture history of Timberlands, the most famous boot of all time.
