Queen Latifah covers the November issue of ESSENCE magazine and not only is she looking stunning, but the 44-year-old star is also giving us some insight into what she’s currently working on. Throughout her many ventures, Queen Latifah has entertained us all in one way or another – not to mention she’s found time to fit in being a CEO.

So what’s up next on the to-conquer list for the media mogul? For starters, she’ll be reprising classic programming such as Living Single and The Queen Latifah Show through a partnership with BET.

Most exciting for her is an upcoming role as Bessie Smith in an HBO biopic. Latifah talks about the important legacy and influence felt by the 1920s blues singer.

“She influenced rock and roll, with an influence on everybody from Mick Jagger to Janis Joplin. She was the first black performer to appear before an integrated audience. She chased away Ku Klux Klansmen when they tried to set fire to a tent where she was performing,” she said.

Sounds like it’ll be a must watch, and another success for the Queen. After two decades in the game, it’s clear she’s not giving up her throne anytime soon. Get the November issue of ESSENCE on stands now.
