Do you agree?

A$AP Yams is fed up with all the rap music mediocrity this year. During a recent interview with XXL, the A$AP Mob mastermind expressed his opinion about the state of hip-hop in 2014, calling it the worst year in “rap music ever.”

“It’s been a lot of wack sh*t. So it’s like, how are we going to f*ck them up right now? How are we going to shake up the world right now? If you ain’t trying to shake up the world, you ain’t going to shake up sh*t.”

When asked what made 2014 terrible specifically, he explained:

“It wasn’t any trends; musically it was a lot of dry-ass shit. Everybody [who] was supposed to drop, dropped the ball. This is probably the worst year of rap music ever. Let’s be honest. This is the worst year of rap music ever. It’s just been allegiances and people hyping shit up. Man, that shit trash.”

We will say, this year has been kind of slow for music in general and hip-hop is no exception. We have gotten a few hip-hop bangers, but not as much quality as in previous years like 2012 when so many great albums dropped.

A$AP Rocky recently dropped a viral video for his new song “Multiply,” but is gearing up to release the Nez & Rio-produced banger “Pretty Flacko 2” at the end of the month.
