The woman who found North Carolina teenager Lennon Lacy hanging from a swing set in a mobile home community tried to cut the him down in an attempt to save his life, a 911 call reveals.

The Aug. 29 call also details the moment Lacy was found by the woman, who became physically ill upon seeing his body.

The entire first minute and a half of the call is the dispatcher asking the caller to give her an address after the caller explains several times where she is located. The caller gets physically ill, eventually communicating that they are at a “big mobile home park” owned by Bladen Rental Properties on Mills Street.

Dispatcher: “It’s a male subject hanging from the swing?”

Caller: “It’s a black male subject hanging from the swing. He hung his-self.”

Dispatcher: “Do you know how old he is?”

Caller: “Oh God, late 30s early 40s.”

Lacy was 17-years-old.

The dispatcher, identified as Patty by the caller, asked the woman to cut Lacy down from the swing to see if he was breathing.

Dispatcher: “Do you have anyone with you where we can cut him down from the swing? We need to see if he is breathing,”

Caller: “He’s not breathing, Patty.”

Dispatcher: “He’s not breathing?”

Caller: “Oh God, I don’t have anything to cut him down with”

Towards the end of the call, the woman tries to get Lacy down from the swing set. The dispatcher sends units to the small community to assist. An autopsy found that Lacy died from asphyxia due to hanging. The autopsy also described the injuries to Lacy’s neck consistent with the cut noose sent to the medical examiner’s office with the body.

There was no indication of foul play, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Lacy’s family, however, has their doubts.

His mother, Claudia, noticed scratches and abrasions on the teen’s face when authorities led her to the black body bag holding her son. She also said there was a knot on Lacy’s forehead that hadn’t been there the day before. Lacy’s family also notes that the teen was not wearing the new Jordans he had recently purchased, but white sneakers that were two sizes too small.
